One of my favorite things we've witnessed during the FIFA World Cup has been watching people from all over the world fall in love with the United States. I've always been patriotic, ever since I was a kid (see pic below). While other kids were headbanging to heavy metal, I was writing letters to our local Elks Lodge asking them to replace their tattered American flag. Yep, I've always been a little different like that. I attended Girls State a million years ago, and that experience taught me so much about loving and appreciating the United States. If you look at my senior picture (remember when I said a million years ago? 😂), you'll see Old Glory right there. Even back then, I loved our flag.
So when I wanted to create a patriotic wild rag, I wanted something that honored our flag without actually being our flag.
